About the department
This position will be assigned to the Obesity Business Unit (OBU) initially for the launch activities. The team oversees all aspects of market development in our therapeutic area. We bring value by launching innovative medicines and solutions to improve patients' quality of life and ensure sustainable business growth.
We are seeking a professional capable of building innovative strategies for all aspects of communications in Japan by collaborating deeply with global colleagues and senior leaders within the organization.
The position
The Senior Director/Director is in charge of strategy planning in external communication activities for the obesity business, and will lead the Japan Communications function after the launch activities. This entails serving as a communications advisor to senior management, functioning as an external and internal spokesperson, devising a communications plan for Japan, and supervising its execution.
Our primary mission in this position is to increase our contribution to society and change society's perception of obesity treatment. In order to accomplish this, you will be required to propose mind-changing marketing and communication plans, and we will cover innovative ideas and undertake new endeavors that are partially beyond our current expertise and experience.
The key activities include:

  • Methodical Leadership: Concentrate on high-priority issues affecting the company's business and reputation. Collaborate with others to alleviate risks or capitalize on opportunities, consistently evaluate risks and opportunities, and position the company as the premier sustainable partner for Japan within the international pharmaceutical industry.
  • Communications Advisor and Spokesperson: Address questions pertaining to high-priority issues with the Vice President for OBU, the Japan President, and other senior management members. Serve as an external spokesperson for the company, engaging with the media and stakeholders. Additionally, act as an internal spokesperson, maintaining visibility within the Novo Nordisk Japan (NNPL) organization and the global Communications network.
  • Communications Plan: Develop and supervise the execution of a comprehensive communications plan for Japan, aiming to cultivate a positive external media image for NNPL and its products and activities. Ensure seamless, timely, and effective internal communication, delivering company messages and key information to NNPL employees.
  • Cross-functional Collaborations: Foster effective collaboration within the team and across different departments of the company.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Areas of communications or journalism preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in PR, media, company communications, or journalism is required.
  • Experience in writing messages for and assisting senior management in communications activities is required.
  • Japanese (reading/writing/speaking) and English (reading/writing/speaking) skills are necessary.
  • Line management experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in communications of new product launches are preferred.
