Job Description

Natixis in Portugal is currently seeking a motivated and skilled COBOL Mainframe Developer (French Speaker) to join its BPCE SI (Solutions Informatiques) team. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL development within the banking sector and be proficient in both French and English.

This role requires to overview design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications in compliance with business requirements. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and define requirements. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to COBOL and mainframe development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications in compliance with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and define requirements.
  • Perform code reviews, debugging, and testing to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Utilize Pacbase tools to enhance application performance and functionality.
  • Document technical specifications and processes for ongoing maintenance and future development.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for existing applications and systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to COBOL and mainframe development.
  • Mentor junior developers as needed and share best practices.

Qualifications

Hard Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in COBOL development.
  • Proficiency in Pacbase and experience with related tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • proficiency in French is mandatory.

Soft Skills:

 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
