TECKpert is seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Administrator to support our client, a state transportation agency in Tallahassee, FL. This role plays a key part in the agency's Office of Information Technology, providing oversight, management, troubleshooting, and execution of cloud services and platforms that support agency infrastructure, applications, data, and other business needs. The administrator will architect, design, facilitate, lead, coordinate, and direct technology initiatives across infrastructure administration, cloud, identity and access management, security hardening, and compliance.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role embedded inside the agency's IT team, with daily ownership of complex multi-cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365) alongside Windows and Linux server environments. The administrator will work directly with internal staff, contractors, and the State Data Center.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Support and expand the agency's infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments
• Coordinate server configuration and administration with multiple parties (State Data Center, agency staff, and contractors)
• Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades
• Monitor systems and applications to ensure security, availability, and performance
• Establish and maintain systems by evaluating network performance issues, planning and executing equipment selection, installation, configuration, and testing, defining network policies and procedures, and establishing connections and firewalls
• Perform systems monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoot systems and application problems; escalate to vendors as needed
• Build and manage relationships in a matrixed environment
• Identify opportunities to refactor solutions for better performance, cost, and efficiency
• Create and manage Azure DevOps projects, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines, and oversee Azure DevOps organizational settings
• Recommend and assist with the build and hosting of complex application solutions
• Understand, deploy, and manage AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud services
• Support other IT staff including developers

Compensation and Term

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $155,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

• Bachelor's degree (or technical institute degree) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in information systems engineering or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of IT work experience in infrastructure or network environments across systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration
• 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022)
• 2 to 3 years of IIS administration
• 2 to 3 years of network communications experience including TCP/IP, DNS, Samba/CIFS file sharing, and NTFS permissions
• 2 to 3 years of strong professional experience administering AWS cloud services
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server products
• In-depth knowledge of Linux administration on RedHat and Ubuntu, including Linux patching
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across diverse technology platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of professional experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
• 2 to 3 years of professional experience with other cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform
• 2 to 3 years of professional experience in Microsoft software administration (M365, identity platforms)
• 3 to 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT service automation tools, and batch job services
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps projects, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency in cloud-based network architectures and multi-cloud integration patterns
