About the Role
The Senior Category Manager, Semiconductors position is responsible for driving the pooling of demand activities cross group with the target to achieve additional savings out of scale at our Supplier base. The Senior Category Manager, Semiconductors works closely with the worldwide acting Lead Buyer, Electronics within the Electronics Group.

This role will be involved, to varying degrees, with all aspects of the strategic sourcing process, including project planning, specifications development, supply market research, Supplier engagement, evaluation, selection, and new Supplier implementation. The Senior Catergory Manager, Semiconductors supports strategic sourcing activities for assigned sub-categories of spend, capturing savings through purchasing volume, leveraging, negotiating price, and working capital.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently within a team environment involving all group representatives with no direct reporting line to the position. A strong ability to influence and convince Stake Holders is mandatory.
Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure regular communication with all groups
  • Continue analysis of worldwide semiconductor/PCB market
  • Support strategy definition
  • Handle Supplier categorization (Strategic, Approved and Phase Out) on a L2 (/L3) commodity basis and work with the Divisional Buyers to respect this framework in their daily business and awards of new programs.
  • Interface with customer requests (allocation calls...)
  • Drive brokering of obsolesce material
  • Prepare, support and drive negotiation at Suppliers by using cross group volume with the Lead Buyer, Electronics.
  • Provide an overview on the results of the negotiation, including a presentation of results.
  • Achieve targets and create budgets considering strategy and risk management
  • Support Sales and Purchasing in negotiations with OEM and Suppliers
  • Develop and implement procurement cost savings ideas
  • Develop and maintain key Supplier relationships
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams in design and execution of category sourcing strategies.
  • Coordinate all Supplier issues with applicable functional organizations.
  • Lead, manage, and negotiate contracts and supply agreements in support of overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead internal reviews of contracts with required functional areas such as Legal, Finance, etc.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement technical & commercial cost reduction and risk mitigation projects.
  • Ensure compliance of internal controls as it relates to company policies and procedures.
  • Handle other related duties as assigned.


Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or Business.
  • 7+ years purchasing experience in the automotive industry.
  • 5+ years purchasing experience, including procurement expertise in direct materials, including but not limited to semiconductors and PCBs.
  • Thorough understanding of the production process of the respective material
  • Ability to support and lead data analytics.
  • Ability to travel to Suppliers worldwide


Your preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PowerBI
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, and relationship building skills.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
