Intro

Own banking and cash payments for CSC Japan's corporate clients and for CSC Japan itself, with accuracy, timeliness and strong controls. Corporate banking and payments is the initial focus and where most attention will be. Over time, the role will support the design and rollout of a banking and payments platform for SPC and fund clients, and grow into treasury support for those clients.

Some of the things you’ll be doing:

Bank Relationship Management

  • Manage CSC Japan's relationships with its banks, and build new relationships where needed.
  • Strengthen these relationships to support account opening and servicing for corporate, SPC and fund clients.
  • Act as the main point of contact for banks on day-to-day matters and issues.

Bank Account Opening

  • Lead bank account opening for corporate clients, and for SPC and fund clients as that business grows.
  • Represent the client in bank interviews, answering the bank's questions on the client's operations, budgets, forecasts, headcount, and existing and potential business.
  • Work with the CoSec team so accounts for newly incorporated entities are opened on time.

Payment Preparation and Processing

  • Prepare client payments accurately and on time, and input approved payments into banking portals.
  • Make manual over-the-counter payments at bank branches where required, for example certain tax payments.
  • Track each payment through every handoff, from client instruction to client approval, CSC management approval and release. Follow up promptly when an approval is running late against normal timelines, and escalate where needed, so payments are made on time. Plan around bank and public holidays.
  • Over time, design the approval workflow, including agreed client deadlines, reminders and escalation points, so that manual follow-up becomes the exception rather than the norm.
  • Carry out callback verification before releasing payments, in particular for new payees and any change to payee bank details.
  • Make all client payments from the client's own accounts under the client's mandate. CSC does not hold client money.

Account Monitoring and Notifications

  • Monitor client accounts for capital injections and distributions, and update the relevant parties as required.
  • Notify clients and internal teams when payments are prepared, approved and released.
  • Send bank statements to clients as per the agreed scope, generally at month end.
  • Provide bank statements and account information to the accounting team on time for accounting, tax and audit work.

CSC Japan Payments and India Finance Coordination

  • Process CSC Japan's own local vendor and tax payments on time.
  • Provide bank statements to CSC's finance team in India for reconciliation, and answer their queries.
  • Agree clear ownership and handoffs with the India team, so that every payment has a named owner and a confirmation step and nothing is missed between teams.

Access Rights, Security and Records

  • Keep accurate records of banking software installations, devices, tokens and passwords, and of who holds preparer, approver and administrator rights.
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records of all payments made, accessible to everyone who needs them. Password-protect these files so that only approved people can change them.
  • Update access promptly when people join, leave or change roles.
  • Work with the IT team to resolve software and technical issues affecting banking systems.

Internal Controls and Process Design

  • Design processes so controls are built into the workflow and the team does not depend on any one person.
  • Document procedures so colleagues can step in during absences.

Automation and Transformation

  • Identify and support automation where it adds value, such as automated delivery of bank statements to clients.
  • Take part in future transformation projects, such as changes to banking systems and further automation.

Client Pitches

  • Join meetings with prospective clients, face to face or by video call, to explain banking and payments services and how CSC supports clients with seamless processes and quality execution.
  • Identify and support automation where it adds value, such as automated delivery of bank statements to clients.
  • Take part in future transformation projects, such as changes to banking systems and further automation.

What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?

  • Experience managing Japanese bank relationships and bank account opening, including representing clients in bank interviews.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and processing payments through Japanese banking portals.
  • Strong understanding of payment controls, including callback verification and separation of preparer and approver rights.
  • Japanese and English sufficient to communicate with stakeholders in writing, in meetings and by phone.
  • Methodical and organized, with clear communication across banks, clients and internal teams.
