About the Role
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Buyer for a 16month contract to support our SAP Implementation. The Senior Buyer is to buy goods and services necessary for our business. Must have the means and opportunity to raise our profits by making the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases. The Senior Buyer will have a keen eye for detail and a commercial mindset. You should know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers. Communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. The Senior Buyer will need to help mentor and assist the buyers with negotiation and sourcing decisions. The goal is to acquire supplies that are critical for the success of our business operations.
Your Responsibilities

  1. Procuring commodities, raw materials, process materials, goods and services, subcontracted services as required and in accordance with purchasing procedures.
  2. Projecting annual cost downs for those suppliers assigned to job function
  3. Tracking and reporting monthly cost savings based on receipt history
  4. Ensuring timely MRP systems updates to provide systems accuracy related to buying information (pricing, specifications etc.)
  5. Up-front involvement with engineering group to ensure most cost-effective supply sources are identified and utilized for all new and upcoming programs
  6. Any other reasonable duty required by Management to support SAP Implementation


Who we are looking for

  • Minimum 5 years commodity buying experience within the automotive environment
  • Post-secondary education with business orientation
  • PMAC member with minimum level 3 status
  • Sound MRP systems knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills. Exceptional communication skills. Professional negotiating skills
  • Working knowledge of Trans4M applications & SAP highly preferred
