Project – the aim you’ll have
White-label B2B e-commerce platform for a leading US promotional products company. The platform is built on Shopify Plus (Hydrogen) with a .NET 8 microservices backend on AWS, supporting multiple branded storefronts and integrating with a range of legacy systems including ERP, order management, inventory, pricing, and marketplace connectors (Amazon, Walmart). This is a brownfield modernisation programme with real complexity: multiple vendors, multiple stakeholder groups (business, product, tech, marketing), phased delivery across POC, MVP, and full launch, and requirements that span backend services, front-end UX, and third-party integrations. The gap between business intent and engineering-ready specifications has been identified as a critical risk — and this role exists to close it.
Position – how you’ll contribute
- Own the end-to-end requirements process: elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and traceability across POC, MVP, and full-launch phases
- Translate business requirements into structured, engineering-ready artefacts: use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and service-level specifications
- Work directly with client stakeholders (business, product, marketing, operations) to surface, clarify, and prioritise requirements — resolving ambiguity before it reaches dev
- Map requirements to Jira epics, features, and tickets in collaboration with the Team Lead and Project Manager; maintain the single source of truth in SharePoint / Confluence
- Facilitate and document discovery sessions, refinement workshops, and stakeholder reviews across functional areas: Order Management, Identity & Auth, Pricing, Inventory, Catalog, Notifications, and Analytics
- Identify and flag gaps between business requirements and existing user stories; ensure all delivery teams are working from aligned, up-to-date specifications
- Analyse legacy systems and current-state workflows to inform migration planning and identify integration dependencies
- Support phase-boundary decisions (POC vs MVP vs full launch) by maintaining clear scope documentation and change control records
- Define and document acceptance criteria for each service and integration point; support QA in test case derivation
Expectations – the experience you need
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on software delivery projects, ideally in agile/scrum environments
- Proven ability to translate complex business needs into structured, developer-ready requirements (user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria)
- Experience facilitating workshops and discovery sessions with mixed technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort working across backend and frontend domains — able to engage meaningfully with engineers on API contracts, data flows, and service dependencies
- Experience maintaining requirements traceability across tools such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint
- Strong analytical thinking: ability to identify gaps, ambiguities, and conflicts in requirements before they become delivery risks
- Excellent written and spoken English — clear, concise documentation and confident stakeholder communication
- Experience in brownfield or platform modernisation projects, including mapping legacy system behaviour and supporting migration planning
Nice to have
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms — Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, or similar
- Experience with multi-vendor delivery models and managing requirements across multiple development teams
- Exposure to backend service design concepts: REST APIs, event-driven architecture, microservices, data flows
