As Sr. Build Systems & Software Robustification Engineer you will be responsible for;
We are seeking a Senior Build Systems & Software Robustification Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of the build, toolchain, and software quality infrastructure for a complex C++ robotics platform. This role is responsible for ensuring build reliability, software quality, reproducibility, and traceability across the entire development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in modern C++ build systems, CI/CD automation, static analysis, sanitizer integration, and reproducible build practices within production-grade software environments.
Design, implement, and own the build system architecture and toolchain configuration for a large-scale C++ robotics software stack.
Develop and maintain robust build infrastructure using modern build technologies such as CMake and/or Bazel.
Establish and manage comprehensive software quality tooling, including:
- Static code analysis
- Address Sanitizer (ASan)
- Thread Sanitizer (TSan)
- Undefined Behavior Sanitizer (UBSan)
- Automated reporting and traceability throughout the development pipeline
Enable and maintain reproducible production builds, allowing teams to:
- Rebuild any software component from a specific point in time
- Recreate historical build environments
- Execute corresponding test suites against reconstructed builds
Improve CI/CD effectiveness by enhancing:
- Build reliability
- Test signal quality
- Failure diagnostics
- Developer feedback loops
Implement artifact management and version traceability processes that provide clear visibility into software lineage, dependencies, and release history.
Drive improvements in developer productivity through better tooling, automation, build performance, and debugging workflows.
Collaborate with software, robotics, infrastructure, and systems engineering teams to establish scalable engineering best practices for software delivery and quality assurance.
Qualifications;
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive experience designing and maintaining C++ build systems using:
- CMake
- Bazel
- Similar enterprise-scale build frameworks
Strong hands-on experience with:
- Static analysis tools
- ASan, TSan, and UBSan deployment and troubleshooting
- Compiler and linker toolchains
Deep understanding of:
- Reproducible and hermetic build methodologies
- Dependency management
- Build environment isolation
- Software release engineering
Proven experience building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines.
Expertise in toolchain management, compiler configuration, and cross-compilation environments.
Strong debugging, automation, and systems-level problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications;
- Experience supporting embedded Linux or ARM-based cross-compilation environments.
- Knowledge of software supply-chain security, artifact provenance, and software bill of materials (SBOM) practices.
- Experience within robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or other safety-critical software domains.
- Familiarity with containerized build environments and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Salary Range: $145K-$185K
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
Note: This is an ON-SITE position. The individual can sit either in North Reading, MA or Woburn, MA.
