DeepWalk is a fast-growing VC-backed startup that simplifies sidewalk ADA Transition Plans for public works departments. Our software transforms 3D models of sidewalks into deliverables that help solve the logistical, planning, and engineering challenges that prevent accessible design.
Role Description
DeepWalk is seeking a full-time Senior Backend Software Engineer for a hybrid role (2-3 days a week in office). We're looking for someone who can write production-level code for robust backend systems and take ownership of building the backend platform to support our transition to a SaaS platform.
We’re looking for:
- 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and storage solutions (preferably AWS)
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as ElasticSearch, Grafana, Sentry, or PostHog
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and automated deployment workflows
- Solid experience working with SQL databases, particularly MySQL
- Strong collaboration skills to gather and refine requirements with business stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive projects with minimal supervision
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership and suggest architectural improvements
- A focus on building robust, reliable, and maintainable systems
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments and wearing multiple hats
Compensation:
- $100,000 - $150,000 annual salary
- 0.15-0.3% equity
- Health insurance
- Annual bonus
