We are seeking a motivated Senior Backend & Infrastructure Software Developer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving the development, optimization, and scalability of our Rails API backend, while ensuring the reliability and robustness of our infrastructure. This position requires a strong foundation in Ruby on Rails, SQL, AWS, and infrastructure management tools like Terraform. The ideal candidate will have expertise in logging, debugging, and optimizing database performance, and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to architect scalable solutions.
Role Overview:
The Senior Backend & Infrastructure Software Developer will be responsible for the development and optimization of FluentPet's Rails API backend, enabling seamless communication between our innovative IoT products and mobile applications. This role requires proficiency in backend development and infrastructure management to ensure both high-performance application development and a reliable, scalable system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize our Rails API backend, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Architect, design, and implement new features, integrations, and enhancements to our backend systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to design and implement backend solutions that support our mobile app and IoT products.
- Manage and improve backend infrastructure, leveraging AWS services and Terraform to support growth and scalability.
- Optimize SQL databases for performance, reliability, and scalability, with a focus on query optimization and database design.
- Implement and maintain robust logging and debugging practices to enhance system reliability and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Establish and enforce best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and infrastructure management to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Define technical direction and strategy, aligning backend and infrastructure development efforts with overall company goals.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails, with a deep understanding of API design, development, and maintenance.
- Strong experience with AWS for backend infrastructure management, including familiarity with AWS IoT Core.
- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate and manage cloud infrastructure.
- Expertise in SQL database management, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proven track record of leading backend and infrastructure projects with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset towards backend architecture and infrastructure development.
- Strong logging and debugging skills to ensure system reliability and rapid issue resolution.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
