About the RoleWe’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join our first product pod and help bring our first venture to life. You’ll work alongside a product manager, front-end engineer, and designer, supported by a Principal Architect and the studio leadership team.
You’ll play a key role in shaping our backend architecture, building robust APIs, and laying down scalable foundations for future ventures. This is an opportunity to own core systems from the ground up and influence both the product direction and technical standards of the studio.
What You’ll DoDesign and build scalable backend systems and APIs (Python preferred; Node.js welcome).
Collaborate with the product and frontend teams to deliver secure, performant, and well-documented endpoints.
Lead architectural discussions and define standards for backend systems, infrastructure, and data flows.
Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and performance monitoring.
Integrate third-party services, databases, and internal APIs to accelerate development.
Contribute to DevOps processes, deployment pipelines, and observability setup.
Participate in early product experiments, MVP launches, and iteration cycles.
5+ years of experience building backend systems or APIs, ideally in startups or venture environments.
Strong proficiency in Node.js or Python, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Express, or NestJS.
Solid understanding of RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.) and caching strategies.
Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where velocity and collaboration matter.
A builder’s mindset—you’re pragmatic, curious, and driven to turn ideas into production-ready systems.
Experience integrating or deploying AI/ML models or LLM-powered tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, or observability tools.
Prior experience in early-stage startups or venture studios.

Work closely with experienced operators, architects, and product leaders.
Build meaningful, impactful products in a fast-moving, creative environment.
