Job Description for Senior Back-end Developer

Kavi India Software Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Back-end Developer with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in Python application development. You should be highly proficient in Python and have strong experience building scalable, secure, high-performance enterprise applications. You should have hands-on experience in developing RESTful APIs, web applications, and backend services using modern Python frameworks. A good understanding of software architecture, testing, performance optimization, security, and cloud-based application development is essential.

A Senior Python Developer should be capable of quickly understanding an existing product, its business objectives, application architecture, technical design, and development practices, and should be able to take ownership of the assigned modules or applications with minimal guidance. The candidate should be able to analyse independently requirements, understand technical dependencies, make appropriate design decisions, and effectively roll out solutions within the expected timelines.

The candidate should also be able to guide and mentor other developers, provide technical direction to the team, participate in architectural and design discussions, and ensure that development activities follow established engineering standards and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned backend applications, modules, and technical deliverables.
  
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and high-performance code using Python.
  
• Develop web applications, RESTful APIs, and microservices using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
  
• Quickly understand existing product architecture, business requirements, application workflows, technical designs, and development practices.
  
• Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions.
  
• Design and develop technical interfaces, application architecture, API specifications, and software components.
  
• Participate actively in architecture and technical design discussions and provide recommendations based on scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.
  
• Utilize established development tools, guidelines, and best practices including Python, SQL, Git, REST APIs, and modern software development practices.
  
• Develop and maintain technical documentation throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  
• Prepare and maintain Python applications while resolving application defects, performance issues, and production problems.
  
• Develop unit tests, integration tests, and automated test cases to ensure application quality and reliability.
  
• Enhance existing applications by analysing business objectives, identifying areas for improvement, and preparing implementation plans.​
  
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and potential issues early and take appropriate corrective actions.
  
• Take responsibility for delivering assigned features and enhancements with minimal supervision.
  
• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, UI Developers, and other stakeholders to deliver product features successfully.
  
• Guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers on technical implementation, coding standards, debugging, and best practices.
  
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to ensure code quality and consistency.
  
• Help the team resolve complex technical issues and provide technical direction when required.
  
• Monitor application health and provide production support when required.
  
• Investigate and evaluate new technologies and recommend suitable solutions that can improve product capabilities, development efficiency, performance, or maintainability.
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in Python application development.
  
• Proven experience as a Senior Python Developer, Senior Back-end Developer, or equivalent technical role.
  
• Strong hands-on experience in Python application development and software engineering.
  
• Strong experience with Python web frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
  
• Strong understanding of RESTful API development and Microservices architecture.
  
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
  
• Good understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, LDAP, and SSO.
  
• Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
  
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
  
• Good understanding of software architecture and ability to translate requirements into scalable technical designs.
  
• Experience working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries.
  
• Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, reliability, and security considerations.
  
• Knowledge of unit and integration testing frameworks such as PyTest or UnitTest.
  
• Experience in debugging complex application and production issues.
  
• Ability to quickly understand an existing product, architecture, codebase, and business domain.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
  
• Experience with Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Azure Service Bus, Azure Redis Cache, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
  
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  
• ​Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
