About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join a team responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance media delivery and processing solutions.

In this role, you will work on backend services that determine how media content is processed, packaged, and delivered to different devices. You will contribute to adaptive streaming solutions, optimize media processing workflows, and ensure content is efficiently distributed through Content Delivery Networks (CDNs).

This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys working across different technologies, navigating complex codebases, and collaborating with multiple engineering teams. You should be comfortable working independently, adapting to new environments, and influencing technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and support backend media processing and packaging services.

• Build scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend solutions.

• Work primarily with Rust, Python, and Java, leveraging C/C++ libraries where needed.

• Develop and optimize services running on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• Take operational ownership of services, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Work with media technologies, including video and audio processing, transcoding, and adaptive streaming.

• Optimize high-throughput processing pipelines for performance and resource efficiency.

• Collaborate with engineering teams and contribute to technical architecture and design decisions.

• Ensure services are observable, scalable, and cost-efficient in a cloud environment.
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience developing or operating media delivery systems.

• Strong understanding of adaptive and segmented streaming, media packaging, and transcoding.

• Practical knowledge of video and audio codecs, including H.264, HEVC, AV1, and AAC.

• Experience with media containers and streaming formats such as MP4, MPEG-TS, HLS, and DASH.

• Proficiency in a systems-level programming language such as Rust or C/C++.

• Strong backend development experience, ideally with Python and/or Java.

• Experience developing and operating production backend services at scale.

• Familiarity with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and cloud-native environments.

• Understanding of high-throughput pipelines, performance optimization, monitoring, and observability.
