Senior Automation Engineer

We're hiring a Senior Automation Engineer in the Hardware Support Engineering team who possesses a unique combination of problem-solving, troubleshooting and data visualization skills. As part of this highly visible team, candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with Engineering and store Operations teams to contribute to the reliable operations of our automated pickup and delivery fulfillment systems. In this role you will create dashboards for data visualization with a goal to make data accessible, so that the organization can use it to evaluate and optimize hardware health and metrics impacting site performance.
Ideal candidates will be hands-on with strong data aptitude, a passion for troubleshooting, bias for action, ability to dive deep, and leverage data analytics skills in a customer-facing environment.
What you’ll work on:
- Participates in front-line resolution of technical inquiries, site issues, and escalations; the topics of these issues, inquiries and escalations may include but are not limited to performance, troubleshooting of offline hardware, spares, and maintenance tools.
- Collect, analyze, and report on hardware quality issues and trends to Hardware Performance and Hardware Engineering teams.
- Recommend and implement changes to the maintenance plans, conduct periodic audits, and ensure Hardware Maintenance compliance at all sites.
- Convert raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to understand dashboards and reports.
- Translate team’s needs into data solutions using visualization tools like Power BI.
- Develop queries and reports for company-wide usage by stakeholders
- Review, improve and optimize existing SQL queries, views and stored procedures and implement best practices
Physical requirements:
- Lift and move tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds
- Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrist
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head while on-site.
- Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
- Ability to work in all environments (Ambient, Chilled, and Frozen) and confined spaces using approved PPE.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or similar). MS preferred.
- Understanding of Problem-Solving tools such as 8D, Cause and Effects, FMEA.
- 2+ years of experience with SQL, Python and data visualization tools like Power BI.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code and documentation in Java or Python.
- Have strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience in requirement analysis, design, and prototyping.
- Experience using data-driven insights to recommend and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical content.
- Willing to travel domestically up to 15% of the time.
- Position may be required to be on-call at times, including holidays and weekends.
