Senior Automation Engineer, Contract

Overview of Role

66degrees seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for a 10 month remote contract opportunity with potential to extend to play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of platforms, products, and services for an end client of ours. As part of the Quality Engineering (QE) team, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to build and maintain robust test automation frameworks while driving industry-leading quality standards.

This role requires an individual who is passionate about automation, proactive in problem-solving, and constantly looking to innovate QE best practices; ideally this person is results-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Execute automated testing solutions within CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable test case execution
• Assist in design, development and enhancement of automation framework
• Perform comprehensive manual testing to identify defects and validate features against business requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on test strategies and test plans
• Implement testing using tools such as Selenium for UI testing and Postman for API validation
• Defines and ensures guidelines are followed for automation code
• Review code changes and Merge requests to ensure quality standards are followed
• Ability to identify appropriate test coverage and edges cases   
• Assist in root cause analysis for defects and provide insights for improvement
• Work with source control systems like Git to manage code repositories
• Document test results and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Stay current with emerging testing tools and methodologies

Qualifications

• Experience implementing automation frameworks for WEB, API, and mobile applications
• Proficiency in functional testing including writing and executing test cases
• Experience with UI automation frameworks and tools
• Knowledge of API testing for REST APIs and Protobuf services
• Experience in leading and mentoring QE engineers
• Hands-on experiences in database testing (SQL & MongoDB)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab is nice to have)
• Programming skills - Java
• Understanding of software test life cycle and defect management
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative environments
