About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Senior Finance & Payroll Accountant to join our growing remote finance team supporting Australian-based businesses.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured finance operations, payroll, reconciliations, and process improvement while working in a collaborative and technology-driven environment.

You’ll work closely with finance leadership and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end activities, and helping improve finance processes across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll and Compliance

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Australian employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery
  • Process payroll from data collection through final pay distribution and post-payroll reconciliation
  • Assist with payroll compliance requirements including:
    • Superannuation
    • STP reporting
    • PAYG obligations
  • Reconcile payroll-related balances and reports

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and manage payment workflows
  • Prepare and process scheduled payment batches
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Generate customer invoices and support collections follow-ups
  • Maintain accurate customer and supplier records

Reconciliation and Month-End Support

  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end activities including:
    • journals
    • accruals
    • prepayments
    • balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support audit preparation and finance documentation


Process Improvement and Systems

  • Help improve finance processes and workflows
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and finance analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency


Other Responsibilities

  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial and executive information.
  • Stay proactive in identifying opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and support processes.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing remote team environment.


About You

  • CPA or CA qualified
  • At least 3 years of accounting, payroll, or finance operations experience
  • Experience supporting Australian accounting or payroll processes is highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working with reconciliations, structured processes, and deadlines
  • Experience using accounting, payroll, or ERP systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience with cloud-based finance systems or automation tools is a plus
  • Exposure to multi-entity environments is advantageous but not required
