Job Summary:

Cohen & Steers is seeking a research analyst on a multi-asset investment team that focuses on investing in closed-end funds. This position will report to the team’s portfolio managers and will contribute to the goal of delivering alpha across a range of asset classes within a framework that combines top-down and bottom-up perspectives.
We are looking for a team-player with a deep curiosity to learn and work collaboratively on a relatively small team. Cohen & Steers is committed to an inclusive culture, valuing diversity in support of our people and clients.


Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Perform empirical research using financial and economic data: regression and statistical analysis, forecasting models, back-testing and translating views to actionable investment ideas 
  • Maintain and enhance dashboards and other analytical tools to monitor trends across coverage universe
  • Identify sector and asset class themes using quantitative and qualitative approaches; stay abreast of relevant academic and sell-side research 
  • Write and discuss research findings with an eye toward risks and opportunities in the portfolios

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 2 – 5 years of experience in investment research, economics or portfolio management
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills with advanced knowledge of applied statistics and econometrics
  • Intellectual curiosity about investment styles, approaches and managers  
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg and other data providers preferred
  • Programming experience (Python, R, EViews, or similar) preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Progress toward CFA or advanced degree a plus
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Agrees to comply with the firm’s hybrid work policy (“work from home policy,” as aligned with the Company’s employee handbook), which currently requires reporting to the Company’s New York City office four (4) days per week, with one (1) remote workday permitted
