Working as a mid-level fee earner in a partner led team of other more senior fee earners, to provide technically sound Cayman Islands regulatory legal advice on a range of issues, whilst building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries alike. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and advise on regulatory obligations applicable to financial institutions, investment funds, managers, administrators and other service providers and investment vehicles in the Cayman Islands; 
  • Build specialist knowledge and experience in the firm's Cayman Islands regulatory practice areas to the highest standards; 
  • Ensure work is compliant with applicable procedures and standard documents; 
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with both clients and colleagues in other Cayman Islands practice groups. Establish credibility, influence where appropriate and provide excellent client service;
  • Contribute to the firm's Knowledge Management (KM) information / system and ensure contributions are accurate and current;
  • Provide support and guidance to more junior members of the team;
  • Prepare fee proposals;
  • Ensure timeliness of billing and debt collection; 
  • Ensure effective management of time, effort and resources in order to generate maximum efficiencies and maintain accurate time records;
  • Undertake project work as required, support and deliver on initiatives identified and designated from time to time by supervising attorneys and partners.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified Lawyer with a minimum of 6+ years' post qualification experience in private practice;
  • LLB (Hons) from a reputable tertiary institution and strong academics, all with a minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent;
  • Experience advising large financial institutions, investment funds and/or other regulated entities on core regulatory legal matters;
  • Sound knowledge of various Cayman Islands regulatory regimes including economic substance, beneficial ownership transparency, data protection, anti-money laundering, sanctions, CIMA licensing and registration regimes, FATCA/CRS and virtual asset service providers;
  • Excellent drafting skills with high attention to detail and the ability to be succinct;
  • Experience advising clients on practical legal solutions to ensure compliance with new regulatory requirements;
  • Involvement in writing briefings on core regulatory developments;
  • Good interpersonal skills, effective communicator with strong influencing skills;
  • Excellent time management skills, experience working on a high volume of client matters on a daily basis;
  • Strong relationship management and client care skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.

Skills Required
