Job Description
The Ares Compliance Department oversees and manages Ares’ global regulatory compliance and ethics program. Under the leadership of the Global Chief Compliance Officer, the Compliance Department is comprised of functionally and business-aligned teams that operate collaboratively based on the Firm’s overall structure: Regulatory & Marketing, which oversees implementation of investment management policies across all of Ares’ regulated entities and business lines and focuses on global marketing and investor relations; Trading & Conflicts, which oversees transactional and conflict management teams; Corporate Compliance, which administers global policies and central compliance functions, including operation of the Code of Conduct and testing of the compliance program; AML-CTF, which develops and administers Ares’ Global Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Program; and Compliance Operations, which prepares or oversees regulatory filings and oversees the department’s operational and reporting functions with a focus on regulatory reporting and management of strategic initiatives.
The Ares Compliance Department is currently seeking a talented professional to partner and support the Head of Compliance operations with setting, planning and executing on strategic priorities across the Regulatory and Compliance program. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with the senior leadership Regulatory and Compliance team to determine and prioritize business strategies, improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity while leading program management and initiative implementation efforts. The ideal candidate will have consulting experience with a focus on operations management and proven success in a business/project management role. This role will require a dynamic, adaptive and agile hands-on professional who will be capable of ensuring optimal processes in a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Head of Compliance Operations and partner with Compliance Leadership team by providing project management and execution support to achieve the strategic objectives of the group overall

Bring a holistic perspective to all Compliance processes, assessing activities across Compliance and ensuring that workflows and processes are being established with consistency and broad best interests in mind; improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity

With respect to project management: ensure allocation of resources in accordance to priority; track and report project status as appropriate and provide full transparency on actions, budgets and results

Evaluate effectiveness of current Compliance processes and workflows and re-engineer such processes as needed to bring improved efficiency and/or accountability

Work in partnership with all Compliance Functional Leads to catalog and ensure that all core processes and department procedures are documented and kept up-to-date

• Ensure that processes and controls meet regulatory requirements

• Draft and review internal and external communications pertaining to Compliance-related materials; draft teamwide communications, reports, presentations, etc.

Manage and facilitate departmental and cross-departmental meeting preparation and follow-up by managing agenda/document preparation, ensuring materials are sent in advance and objectives are achieved

Assist in planning teamwide meetings, town halls, and other special events

Assist the Compliance Leadership and HR team with new hires, including documentation and onboarding, training, etc.

Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership and team success
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree required
Experience Required:

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a business management and strategic role

Previous experience and financial industry knowledge preferred

Experience in consulting with a focus on operations and business management

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$120,000-$140,000
