You will assume the full technical ownership of the end-to-end solution, help the organization make informed choices in the evolution of our architecture, increases the degree on integration and re-use between our various registry jurisdictions, help the organization mature its architecture practices and makes progress along the IT Strategic Roadmap.
The Senior Architect is focused on ensuring that the technology strategy delivering the expected business benefits, within the budget, aligning with Business and Corporate Strategic Initiatives. Areas of focus is on integration/interoperability, Cloud Services optimization, looking to leverage AI as well as designing application software.

What You'll Be Doing
Developing and advocating a strategy around the usage of platforms, technologies, tools, capacity, methodologies, and frameworks.
Understanding business needs of the program, helping define functional and non-functional requirements, identifying and assessing risks, and providing development cost estimates.
Reviewing design and code from software designers and developers.
Guiding/coaching software engineers on resolving complex issues and recommending solutions to architectural related issues.
Providing leadership to solutions architect and software engineers around technical and operational excellence, security compliance, standards, and methodologies.
Working with other architects and teams and aligning tools and processes.
Helping the organization make good choices in the evolution of our architecture.
Helping the organization make progress along our IT Strategic Roadmap.
Maintain and modernize the Search, and registration of both our Land and Personal Property registries. As well as our backend workflow engine for the Land Title System
Working with Teranet’s other registries and central services teams to understand and implement a modern composable architecture to be leverage across all of Teranet.
As strategic partners documenting and communicating the Teranet Manitoba systems architecture to stakeholders in IT, business, and government.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for the work occurring within the modernization project.
Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.
Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
Managing vendors & consultants involved in evaluation or implementation activities.
Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment
Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements.
Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners.
Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.
Provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations.
Provide thought leadership in industry and to fellow team members across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements.
Demonstrate forward thinking around where the organization is going and how technology can support these efforts.
Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems.
Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks.
Develop a cohesive team and ensure their continued success.
Lead the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems.
Conduct product work reviews with team members.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline & 10 years of experience working in the IT field
Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline & 7 years of experience working in the IT field
5-7 years of experience in architecting or designing solutions, preferably in a mid to large organization working on mission critical applications
Experience with large scale, multi-year application development and re-platforming projects
B2B and B2C experience
Knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, networking, storage, security, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes
Understanding of information security technology and best-practices
Ability to articulate and understand a financial business case

The annual pay range for this role is $169,650-$181,350 CAD, inclusive of base salary and target incentive pay.
