Applications Engineering – Creating Tomorrow’s Value

We proactively enable business development and drive customer adoption of a tailored portfolio of sustainable ASML solutions by applying deep industry, product, process, and system knowledge in a collaborative environment.

The Senior Applications Pathfinding Engineer is a customer-facing technical role focused on system-level pathfinding, node definition, and integrated solution development. This role translates customer technology needs into clear technical requirements, solution direction, and validation plans, ensuring ASML’s product portfolio delivers value in the customer environment.

This position combines field system engineering and applications expertise to support roadmap alignment, new technology pathfinding, on-product validation, and technical issue resolution across advanced DUV and YieldStar environments.

This role offers opportunities to grow in technical leadership, project leadership, and broader management responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead customer-facing pathfinding and system engineering activities to translate future customer needs into node and solution requirements

  • Define and represent the customer Concept of Operations, ensuring customer constraints, use cases, and technical needs are reflected in solution planning

  • Act as a key interface between the customer and internal stakeholders across system engineering, product teams, business lines, and programs

  • Support new technology pathfinding (NTP) and related strategic programs by driving technical alignment, progress reviews, issue resolution, and solution decisions

  • Contribute to the customer’s global development model through close collaboration with Technology Development (TD) teams and support of cross-site programs and projects

  • Identify solution gaps, risks, and required additional node functionality, ensuring alignment with ASML’s product portfolio architecture

  • Support customer technology roadmap alignment by ensuring technical consistency in customer-facing materials and pathfinding engagements

  • Lead or support projects related to new node introduction, node transitions, and customer ramp-up

  • Define and execute on-product experiments with customers to validate performance, generate insights, and demonstrate product value

  • Analyze customer and experimental data using appropriate technical methods and clearly communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders

  • Translate customer issues into lithography, metrology, or system-level problem statements and drive containment and solution development

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for customer meetings and support adoption of new capabilities and solutions

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant technical discipline

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar technical role

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the semiconductor or advanced manufacturing industry

  • Experience in system engineering, applications engineering, pathfinding, product engineering, or customer-facing technical development

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using MATLAB, Python, JMP, or similar analytical tools

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical data analysis, problem solving, and presentation of findings

  • Proven experience working across stakeholders and managing technical change in a complex environment

  • Experience with EUV, DUV, metrology, node development, or system integration is preferred
