We're looking for a TS/SCI-cleared Senior API Management Engineer to join our team and support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO. In this role, you'll help ensure that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter by driving API management solutions for mission-critical services.

As a Senior API Management Engineer, you’ll lead the deployment and management of Kong Enterprise API gateway solutions that ensure high availability, performance, and scalability across enterprise environments. Working as part of the Continuous Operations Release Environment (CORE) team, you'll leverage your deep expertise in API management and cloud operations to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our client's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead API Gateway Deployments: Manage the deployment, configuration, and continuous optimization of Kong Enterprise in a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • Ensure Reliability & Performance: Oversee the high availability and scalability of API infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide Expert Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to API management and cloud environments, offering advanced technical support to clients.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance API integration across various applications and drive improvements in API consumption strategies.
  • Optimize API Performance: Monitor and fine-tune API performance, addressing scalability and reliability challenges as they arise.
  • Document Best Practices: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, guiding teams on best practices for API management and cloud integration.
  • Drive Innovation: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to refine and advance API strategies and cloud operations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on API management, cloud operations, and customer support.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing Kong Enterprise API gateway or similar API management platforms in a cloud environment.

Required Skills:

  • API Management Expertise: Strong knowledge of Kong Enterprise and its integration within cloud platforms.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Expertise in AWS cloud services and infrastructure management.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Skilled at resolving complex API and cloud issues with precision and speed.
  • Linux Knowledge: Proficiency with Linux distributions like RedHat and CentOS.
  • DevOps & Agile: Experience with DevOps practices, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI and Nexus.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor and lead junior team members.

Location: Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO
Clearance Required: TS/SCI clearance

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $170-190k. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
