The Senior API Developer is skilled in AWS API Gateway and works to develop robust APIs for system integration, connecting a variety of internal and external applications. This individual will create scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions, and will also serve as a knowledge leader in this domain. The Senior API Developer role offers the unique opportunity to lead the charge in an emerging and critical area of our business, setting the standard for API practices and contributing significantly to our growth and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and manage APIs using AWS API Gateway, focusing on system integration.
  • Ensure seamless integration of APIs with various internal and external systems, enhancing connectivity and data flow.
  • Implement secure, scalable, and maintainable API solutions that meet business needs and technical requirements.
  • Work with serverless architectures, particularly AWS Lambda, to optimize API performance.
  • Apply best practices in API security, versioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the go to expert for all matters related to API development within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand integration requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Monitor and analyst API performance metrics, implementing optimizations for high availability and reliability.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in API development, particularly in the AWS environment.

Required Knowledge, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in API development, with specific expertise in AWS API Gateway
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API principles and best practices
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java
  • Experience with AWS services, particularly in serverless architectures
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including executive leaders

Highly Preferred Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  • Experience with integrating APIs with a variety of platforms and systems
  • Knowledge of additional cloud services and API management tools
  • AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect, or other similar certifications
