About this Role

We are looking for a Founding Analytics Engineer to build the data modeling layer behind Sekai’s product, growth, and company decision-making.

This role is not a traditional BI or dashboard-only role. You will own the transformation layer that turns raw product events, backend logs, and operational data into clean, reliable, and reusable datasets for product analytics, experimentation, growth, creator insights, and investor-facing metrics.

As an early member of the data function, you will work closely with product, engineering, growth, and leadership to define how Sekai understands user behavior, content performance, creator activity, retention, and product quality. You will design the canonical tables, metric definitions, data quality checks, and dashboards that help the team make faster and more trustworthy decisions.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across data modeling, analytics engineering, product thinking, and startup execution.

What You’ll Own
  • Design and maintain the core analytics data models that transform raw events and logs into clean, trusted, analysis-ready tables.

  • Build intermediate and canonical datasets for key product areas such as user activity, content consumption, creation, publishing, remixing, retention, recommendations, and experimentation.

  • Define and operationalize company-wide metrics, including DAU, retention, continuation, creator supply, creation penetration, content engagement, funnel conversion, and growth efficiency.

  • Partner with product and engineering to improve event taxonomy, instrumentation quality, and data consistency across app, web, backend, and analytics tools.

  • Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve data products that help teams track product performance and diagnose issues quickly.

  • Establish data quality standards, testing, documentation, and freshness checks so the team can trust the numbers.

  • Support experiment readouts, cohort analysis, funnel analysis, and product deep dives using SQL, Python, and modern analytics tools.

  • Help shape Sekai’s long-term data architecture as the company scales from early product-market fit to a larger consumer platform.

Background We’re Looking For
  • 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, product analytics, or a related data role.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience designing clean, reusable data models for analytics use cases.

  • Experience transforming raw event logs or backend data into canonical datasets, intermediate tables, marts, or metric layers.

  • Experience with modern warehouse and analytics tooling such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Amplitude, Looker, Metabase, Amplitude, PostHog, or similar tools.

  • Strong product sense and ability to translate ambiguous product questions into clear data models, metrics, and analysis plans.

  • Ability to debug data issues across the full path from instrumentation to warehouse tables to dashboards.

  • Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment where the right answer is often to build a practical, reliable v1 quickly and improve it over time.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with product managers, engineers, growth, data scientists, and company leadership.

Bonus Points
  • Experience with consumer apps, social products, gaming, creator platforms, recommendations, or content feeds.

  • Experience designing event taxonomies for mobile or web products.

  • Experience with retention, funnel, cohort, experimentation, and growth analytics.

  • Experience building an analytics engineering function from scratch at an early-stage company.

  • Familiarity with AI products, LLM usage data, content generation data, or evaluation datasets.

Benefits
  • Top-tier salary in the market + competitive equity

  • Full health insurance

  • Remote-first team

If you are excited about building at the frontier of AI, consumer social, and interactive entertainment, we would love to hear from you.

At Sekai, you will work with an AI-native team, move fast, own meaningful problems, and have the flexibility to explore new ideas from an early stage.

Skills Required

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, product analytics, or related data role.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience designing clean, reusable data models for analytics.

  • Strong product sense and ability to translate ambiguous product questions into data models, metrics, and analysis plans.
  • Ability to debug data issues across the full path from instrumentation to warehouse tables to dashboards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with product, engineering, growth, data science, and leadership.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment and shipping practical v1 solutions quickly.
