Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for planning and executing project components within strategic R&D analytical laboratory initiatives. It involves designing solutions and concepts that meet defined targets, as well as independently planning, preparing, and conducting complex technical work in the analytical lab. This work supports the research and development of new technologies and products required to implement these concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prepare, execute, and analyze complex biological, chemical, and technical experiments for R&D projects.
- Serve as a secondary technical/scientific contact for manufacturing teams on quality, product testing, and analytical methods.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external customers, proactively gathering feedback to ensure analytical needs, quality expectations, and timelines are met.
- Provide technical direction and oversight to contract laboratories, ensuring accurate, reliable analytical support for Evonik and customer requirements.
- Independently create, manage, and maintain quality documentation, including lab production regulations, analysis protocols, process/work instructions, and audit support materials.
- Design, optimize, and validate analytical methods, ensuring successful transfer to users and coordinating externally conducted analyses.
- Independently present scientific results and project updates in internal and external meetings.
- Provide functional guidance, training, and day‑to‑day support to lab personnel, new employees, interns, and students.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with at least 8 years experience or Master’s degree with 5 years experience.
- Strong analytical instrument experience including: chromatography, porosimetry, GC-MS, FTIR and UV-Vis.
- Ability to work autonomously while providing technical guidance on data analysis, reporting, and decision‑making.
- Experience working in laboratory environments with ISO-90001 or similar certification.
- Strong understanding of applicable rules, regulations, and compliance standards, with the ability to ensure adherence independently.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of producing clear, effective reports and conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
Summary Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
Pay Range: $83,900-$139,800
