About the role:

We are seeking a Tax Analyst to join our team at Zepz. In this exciting role, you will be at the helm of managing all tax-related matters for our organisation. Your mission: to ensure we comply with tax laws, minimise tax liabilities, and steer us towards optimal tax positions. As a key collaborator, you’ll work closely with internal teams, external advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure our tax compliance reporting is accurate and timely across all geographies (Europe, Americas, Africa, Asia and Pacific). If you understand tax regulations, tax systems, accounting basics and love creating effective tax strategies, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

The job position is fully remote with an option to come to the company’s London office in Monument.

What you will do:

Tax compliance:

  • Compile and Manage data for the external tax advisors by using the Company’s ERP system in order to prepare and file all tax returns promptly and accurately. Filings include CIT, VAT, WHT and other tax filings.
  • Work closely with colleagues from the broader Finance Team to ensure timely tax compliance.
  • Review the tax returns, assist in the tax payment process.
  • Work closely with the Legal colleagues to ensure the signatories for the tax returns.
  • Assess potential impacts of tax laws and regulations changes on ensuring compliance highlighted by the external tax advisors and implement it in the Company.
  • Manage and document Transfer Pricing arrangements with the tax external tax advisors assistance to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

.Tax planning and strategy:

  • Assist the Head of Tax to develop and implement the Group’s tax policy.
  • Work closely with Finance and Legal colleagues to ensure the group’s tax policies are properly implemented in terms of intercompany agreements, accounting entries and financial reporting.
  • Take part in the Zepz’s projects for tax savings by project managing and recommending appropriate actions to internal stakeholders.
  • Help on employment tax issues. Tax reporting, analysis and administration
  • Prepare and review the tax notes in the financial statements to comply with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Calculate the quarterly and yearly group tax provisions, including effective tax rate calculations, deferred tax assets/liabilities, and tax-related contingencies.
  • Prepare the reconciliations of the tax accounts and book journals in the ERP systems.
  • Create the purchase orders, receipts in the ERP system and monitor the tax budget fees.

Internal and External tax audit:

  • Address tax-related audit inquiries by working with external auditors.
  • Take part in the Group audit.
  • Take primary responsibility for interaction with tax authorities regarding queries on returns.

What We Would Like To See:

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex tax rules to specific situations, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and experience of analysis
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Experience working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks
  • Proficiency in various tax calculation and reporting
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication
  • Not be work shy and be willing to get stuck in and help regardless if it's your area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of UK VAT (not essential but preferable)

What’s a plus:

  • Experience in working with Netsuite system

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA) or tax adviser (CTA)
  • Proven, successful experience of dealing with tax authorities and corporation tax and VAT return preparation essential
  • Experience in impact of tax strategy implementation on other areas of business desirable
  • Exposure to taxes outside UK corporation tax and VAT useful but not essential
  • Flexible, adaptable, inquisitive, and with a collaborative approach - someone who enjoys working in a changing high growth environment
  • Organised and proven track record of meeting deadlines is a must
  • Self-starter, pro-active and uses innovation and creative thinking whilst demonstrating the tenacity to negotiate and resolve difficult queries and issues
  • Excellent communications skills, ability to interact well throughout all levels of an organisation
  • Fintech experience not required
