The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network. The GMNS Risk Reporting & Analytics team enables risk-informed decision-making by delivering insightful analytics, executive reporting, and data-driven recommendations that support business priorities while fostering a strong risk culture. The team is responsible for advancing reporting capabilities, analytics, and data-driven decision making across GMNS, with a focus on control & compliance tracking, C-suite reporting, and driving scalable solutions through GenAI, advanced analytics, automation, and data visualization.

As a Senior Analyst, you’ll closely monitor risk for GMNS, drive proactive risk identification, deliver actionable insights for risk mitigation and remediation, and partner across teams to strengthen metrics performance and risk outcomes. You’ll develop executive reporting, perform root cause analysis to identify emerging risks and trends, generate actionable insights, and support effective risk mitigation. You will partner with 1LOD business teams, 2LOD program teams and metric SMEs to strengthen risk reporting, governance and drive continuous improvement using insight-driven reports, dashboards, Gen AI tools and automations. 

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance executive risk reporting, dashboards, and C-suite presentations that provide actionable insights on risk trends, business performance, and emerging risks.
  • Perform advanced analytics and deep-dives to identify risk drivers, uncover emerging themes, and deliver data-driven recommendations that support informed decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Design and optimize scalable reporting solutions by leveraging automation, advanced analytics, visualization techniques, and GenAI capabilities (e.g., Lumi, Copilot) to improve reporting quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Partner with 1LOD, 2LOD, and cross-functional stakeholders to align on reporting methodologies, risk metrics, governance standards, and control & compliance reporting requirements.
  • Translate complex data into compelling executive-ready dashboards, presentations, and narratives using Power BI, SQL, Excel, Python, and other analytical tools to influence business decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying reporting gaps, data quality issues, process enhancement opportunities, and strengthening risk reporting frameworks, governance, and analytical capabilities.
Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in Risk Reporting, Risk Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Operational Risk, Compliance, or a related analytical function within Financial Services.
  • Hands-on experience with Advanced Excel, Python, SQL, Power BI, BigQuery and Gen-AI tools (Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT)
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills 
  • Demonstrated experience developing executive reporting, dashboards, and analytical presentations for senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience performing trend analysis, root cause investigations, and insight generation from large and complex datasets.

Preferred 

  • Masters in business administration, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting enterprise risk governance, executive reporting, or regulatory reporting initiatives.
  • Knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management frameworks and key risk indicators.
  • Experience driving reporting automation, process optimization, or analytics transformation initiatives.
