HighVista Strategies is looking for a diligent, team-oriented, meticulous, flexible, and hard-working professional with experience in the operational functions of the investment industry.
The ideal candidate will apply the skills they have developed in their career and seek opportunities for growth within investment operations. This candidate will join a small and high-performing team focused on supporting various operational functions for a complex portfolio of investments. This portfolio includes both alternative investments (private credit, hedge funds, PE, VC, real estate, etc.) and marketable investments (equities, fixed income, futures, forwards, swaps, options, SMAs, FX, etc.). They will play an integral role in collaborating within the team and across internal teams (finance & accounting, legal, technology, trading, investments) and external parties (admin, technology vendors, brokers, counterparties, banks, and other 3rd party providers).
This hire will join the Operations Team which is responsible for functions spanning deal & trade execution, middle office & trade management, treasury & liquidity, investment reporting, data & position management, and administrator oversight for HighVista’s multi-strategy, public market, biotechnology, and private credit products.
Core Responsibilities
- Support the firm’s treasury function relating to FX trading, credit facilities, money markets, capital forecasting, portfolio liquidity, and fulfilling funding obligations as needed.
- Oversight of 3rd party administrators for daily trade capture and periodic accounting close & audit cycles.
- Participate in onboarding new investment opportunities and strategies by profiling securities and systems, expanding SMA capabilities, and utilizing technology to improve workflows and data capture.
- Collaborate on all core operational functions including trade execution & settlement, cash & position reconciliations, corporate actions & proxy voting, and other periodic deliverables.
- Author internal and external reporting surrounding our investment portfolios including valuation memos, NAV and trade compliance, credit facility covenants, risk metrics, and other portfolio level reports.
- Lead initiatives to improve operational processes through automation, technology enhancements, and projects to support the growing demands of business on ad-hoc basis.
- Support the alternative investment workflows related to treasury & liquidity, hedging, investment reporting, and specifically how these align with our public market and direct trading strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in accounting or finance is preferred
- 6-9 years of experience in the investment industry with a focus on operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required; experience with SQL, Power Query is beneficial.
- Experience with OMS (Eze), Bloomberg, ICE, and DTCC are preferred; exposure to Geneva, Bipsync, Gresham Match, Aexeo, is beneficial.
- Ability to recognize process improvements, with the capability to execute, through the creative use of technology, automation, or AI tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
