Job Description

About the role

Join Sydney Airport's Finance team and play a critical role in ensuring some of Australia's most significant capital investments deliver value, remain financially robust, and achieve their intended outcomes. As Senior Analyst, Capital Assurance, you will provide independent financial assurance across major infrastructure and capital projects, helping shape investment decisions that support the future growth of Sydney Airport.

Working closely with Finance, Strategy, project sponsors and delivery teams, you'll review business cases, capital funding requests and financial models, providing clear, evidence-based insights to senior leaders and governance forums. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded analyst who enjoys challenging assumptions, influencing decision-making and improving investment outcomes across a large and complex capital portfolio.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Review and assure business cases and capital funding requests, assessing investment rationale, financial viability and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Analyse and challenge complex financial models, project budgets, cash flow forecasts, assumptions and funding requirements.
  • Evaluate project benefits, risks and delivery readiness, providing practical recommendations before key investment decisions are made.
  • Conduct Post Implementation Reviews and Health Checks to assess project performance, delivery confidence, governance effectiveness, benefits realisation and achievement of intended outcomes.
  • Lead post-implementation reviews and project health checks to assess performance against approved scope, budget, schedule and expected benefits.
  • Prepare concise assurance reports and executive insights for senior stakeholders, Program Boards and Investment Committee forums.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen business case quality, financial governance and investment decision-making across the capital portfolio.

About you

  • Experience in financial analysis within capital projects, investment assurance, infrastructure advisory, corporate finance or a similar environment.
  • Strong capability in reviewing and developing business cases, with the ability to assess investment rationale, benefits and value creation opportunities.
  • A background in financial accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline, supported by strong commercial acumen.
  • Advanced financial modelling skills, including experience analysing project budgets, cash flows, forecasts and key assumptions.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently to a broad range of stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Postgraduate finance, accounting, economics, project management or assurance-related qualification is desirable.
  • A naturally curious and analytical mindset, with the confidence to challenge constructively and the judgement to provide practical recommendations.
