Overall Responsibility:
Arora Engineers is seeking a Senior Airfield Electrical Designer to help deliver complex and impactful aviation projects across commercial, military, and general aviation airports. In this role, you’ll lead the design and coordination of critical airfield electrical systems that keep airports safe, operational, and future-ready.
You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams on projects involving airfield lighting systems, electrical distribution, NAVAIDS, backup power systems, airside infrastructure, and facility electrical design. This position reports to the Airfield Electrical Practice Lead.
Essential Functions - What You’ll Do
Lead Airfield Electrical Design
- Design and coordinate airfield electrical systems including:
- Airfield lighting and signage
- Electrical distribution systems
- NAVAIDS
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Controls and emergency backup systems
- Support projects from planning and design through construction administration.
Drive Technical Excellence
- Serve as a technical resource and Subject Matter Expert for airfield electrical design.
- Prepare and review construction drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and engineering studies.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with FAA standards, client requirements, and Arora quality expectations.
- Perform site investigations, field assessments, and construction support activities.
Collaborate Across Teams
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, clients, contractors, airport stakeholders, and teaming partners.
- Participate in project meetings, presentations, and design coordination sessions.
- Help resolve design and production challenges proactively and efficiently.
Mentor & Grow
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and technical staff.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of growing team members.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance project delivery and team performance.
Support Business Growth
- Assist with proposals, fee development, interviews, and client presentations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships that support long-term partnerships and future opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- EIT or PE preferred
- 5–12 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical design
- Experience with aviation or airfield electrical systems required.
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- SKM Power Tools
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical and aviation-related codes and standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record.
- Valid state driver’s license (any in US).
- In possession of appropriate paperwork to gain and maintain employment in the US
- Ability to pass pre-hire drug testing and background check(s).
- Ability to meet worksite security requirements including criminal background checks and DHS threat assessment evaluation
