Job Responsibilities :We're hiring a Senior AIOps Engineer to lead technical delivery on our AIOps initiative backlog, mentor junior team members, and own operational data analysis for our payment platform. This is not a pure IC delivery role — it combines hands-on engineering (ML, AI orchestration, automation, data analysis) with responsibility for growing the team's junior talent and turning operational data into decisions. You'll work primarily in Python, with PHP or Node.js as a secondary language for integrations outside the core stack. You'll partner with DevOps, SRE, Engineering, and Platform teams, and act as the technical anchor for the AIOps team's Junior and Intern.Roles & Responsibilities
1. Technical Delivery — Machine Learning (applied)
- Apply ML models (anomaly detection, clustering, time-series forecasting) to logs, metrics, and transaction data, primarily in Python
- Own model integration into operational tooling — not model research
2. Technical Delivery — AI Orchestration
- Design and build workflows chaining AI/LLM tools into operational pipelines (alert → AI triage → enrichment → routing)
- Own architecture decisions for orchestration patterns used across the team
3. Technical Delivery — Automation / RPA
- Build automation in Python to eliminate repetitive infra/support work; use PHP/Node.js where automation touches existing services
- Design self-healing workflows and automated runbook execution
4. Analyst Function
- Own SLI/SLO definition and tracking for critical payment services
- Build and maintain dashboards translating raw telemetry into decisions
- Produce capacity/workload forecasts and bottleneck analysis
- Be the go-to person when any team asks "what does the data say" — currently no one owns this consistently
5. Mentorship
- Structured (not ad hoc) mentoring of Junior and Intern — code review, architecture guidance, growth planning
- Set technical standards and review gates for junior-delivered work
- Free up delivery-focused Senior time by absorbing the mentoring load that currently competes with their own output
6. Cross-functional
- Partner with DevOps/SRE/Platform to reduce MTTD/MTTR
- Support audit readiness and compliance visibility (PCI DSS context)
- Evaluate emerging AIOps tools and bring recommendations to the team
Requirements
- Background in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (flexible if experience demonstrates it)
- 5+ years in any of DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Operational/Data Analytics
- Python (primary) — required
- PHP or Node.js (secondary) — at least one, required
- Practical exposure to at least two of: ML fundamentals, AI orchestration, automation/RPA, data analysis
- Prior experience mentoring or leading junior engineers — required for this role specifically (distinguishes from a pure IC senior hire)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical instincts
Nice to have
- Payments, FinTech, or banking experience
- AWS/GCP/Azure
- Container/orchestration platforms
- Messaging/event-streaming systems
- PCI DSS or regulated-environment experience
