Job SummaryPyyne is seeking a Senior AI Backend Engineer to work as a consultant out of our South American Office. This is a high-impact role for Pyyne as we build up our Applied AI services and continue to create real business value for our clients.
This person role will contribute heavily to the backend of an AI-powered research tool. Successful candidates will possess strong backend engineering skills, as well as a deep knowledge of LLMs and Agentic systems. The right candidate has a strong mental model of the Generative AI space — they can speak to the technical specifications of different models and frameworks, design multi-step agent workflows, and make informed decisions about when and how to deploy LLM capabilities beyond using them as a coding assistant.
Exposure to data engineering or data-adjacent work at scale is a strong indicator of success, though not a requirement.
This role carries long-term growth potential. As the project matures, the right candidate will have the opportunity to step into a lead position, taking on greater ownership of architecture decisions and team direction.
This is a highly client-facing role and ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys working with non technical stakeholders. This is a remote role!
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and extend backend systems for an AI-powered research and analysis platform built on Python
Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines that pull from external sources (reviews, data warehouse) into the application layer
Integrate LLMs and agents into existing backend workflows
Collaborate closely with a small cross-functional team (frontend, DevOps, full-stack) to ship features end-to-end
Ensure backend services meet production standards for reliability, performance, and data integrity
Day-to-day
Lead-level experience in Python backend engineering (~8+YoE)
Proven experience translating business processes into technical requirements or solution designs, ideally in a consulting or client-facing delivery role
Experience owning a roadmap and prioritizing competing initiatives by feasibility, ROI, and readiness
Demonstrated stakeholder management with both technical teams and non-technical business leaders
Experience working in structured, production environments
Fluent English, Native or near native level

Contribute to ongoing architectural decisions on a platform that spans backend, data, and AI layers
Take end-to-end ownership of backend technical delivery with minimal oversight
Translate client research workflows and stakeholder requirements into scalable backend solutions
Potential and appetite to grow into a technical lead role
Demonstrated ability to work across data engineering tasks — ingestion pipelines, data warehousing, or similar — even if not a primary specialty
Experience working in or building tools for financial services or investment environments
Native or near-native English fluency
