Overview of The Role

Under the supervision of the Director, Tax Accounting and Canadian Taxation and in collaboration with the Director – International Tax and Transfer Pricing, the Senior Advisor, Taxation will participate in Canadian and international tax compliance activities, tax provisions, tax audits and various projects in Canada and abroad. You will be part of an experienced global tax team of around 20 people. Your role will require you to work closely with various members of the tax team and Saputo's various departments, including accounting, legal, capital project management, valuation, human resources, etc.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

Canadian Taxation

• Prepare tax provisions for assigned Canadian entities (including tax continuity schedules by legal entity - installment, provision, notice of assessment, etc.)
• Prepare Canadian tax returns (T2, T5013) and underlying forms (T106, T1134, T1135, etc.) for assigned Canadian entities
• Gather and validate the information required to prepare the various tax forms
• Analyze received notices of assessment
• Work with team members on various tax audits of Canadian activities
• Prepare analysis and responses to internal, external and government audits
• Participate in domestic reorganizations 
• Support financing activities
• Conduct research, analysis, and prepare tax memos to support our tax positions
• Maintenance of tax attributes (ACB, protected income, paid-up capital, etc.)
• Interpret and monitor tax developments and changes to Canadian tax legislation

International Taxation

• Analyze the income of controlled foreign affiliates and calculate foreign accrual property income (‘’FAPI’’), if applicable
• Prepare the calculation of surplus accounts of foreign affiliates
• Gather and provide external consultants with the necessary information for the preparation of tax returns for permanent establishments of Canadian companies abroad
• Participate in the analysis of Canadian and foreign tax consequences of fund repatriations, reorganizations and financing of our foreign affiliates 
• Participate in OECD Pillar 2 compliance
• Participate in all other international projects
• Work with team members on various tax audits of international activities
• Prepare the analyses required for government audits

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Qualifications:

• CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or master's degree in taxation
• CPA certification or solid accounting experience
• 2 to 4 years of tax experience in an accounting firm or a combination of experience in an accounting firm and a multinational company
• Emphasis on quality and added value of work
• Autonomy, professionalism, curiosity and team spirit
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Taxprep
• Bilingualism (French and English; spoken and written)

Salary Range: $83,890 - $110,110

*Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
