If you are a MECHANICAL OR MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING professional looking to drive new process development, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will play a key role in driving global manufacturing process development to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives. This person is responsible for ensuring manufacturing readiness of compressor products for new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing technology development. This role partners with Product Engineering, Design Engineering, and Operations to support early HVAC compressor development, pilot builds, and pre-production validation activities from early concept through production release.

AS A SENIOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Evaluate new product concepts and designs to determine manufacturing feasibility in early development phases.

  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams providing manufacturing and product insights to new product development processes

  • Identify and mitigate manufacturing risks associated with new technologies, products, and processes

  • Maturing manufacturing concepts into detailed process designs including hands on lab, pilot, and production builds

  • Perform PFMEAs, capability studies, Gage R&R, and other statistical analyses to verify and qualify assets production processes and equipment

  • Apply practical automation, LEAN principles, and manufacturing fixturing concepts for high-volume manufacturing assembly lines.

  • Coordinate and manage projects to design, procure, qualify, and implement equipment and manufacturing processes, while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

  • Work with outside integrators and machine builders to confirm new equipment meets design requirements and performs as expected.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent; an associate's degree with equivalent work experience would also be considered

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role

  • Good organizational, project management, presentation, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to recognize and solve complex problems in manufacturing system design

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced engineering environment.

  • Capital Equipment procurement experience. Including specification, purchase, qualification, installation and project management

  • Experience with 2D and 3D design (Siemens NX and AutoCAD preferred but not required)

  • Experience reading machine mechanical drawings Experience and working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office products

  • Travel up to 30% (North America)

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  •  (10) years of related experience Proficient 3D CAD software (Siemens NX Preferred) Good organizational and presentation skills

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles Experience in Design for Manufacturing

Onsite Work Arrangement: 

This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.
