Job Description
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst within Bluesky, you will play a role in supporting OMI’s efforts to manage current investments and support in reviewing new investment opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to actuarial support, conducting financial analysis, assisting with due diligence processes and monitoring synergy extraction as well as analyzing previous investment decisions and generating key takeaways. The role requires an understanding of finance, business strategy, and industry dynamics.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Actuarial Analysis and Insights:
Actuarial analysis of potential investments
Actuarial support to existing investments - reserve reviews, capital management and optimization, regulatory reporting and pricing.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Support in detailed financial analysis, including financial modeling, to assess the financial health and performance of potential investments.
Evaluate historical and projected financial statements, cash flow analysis, and valuation metrics.
Due Diligence:
Support due diligence efforts, working with cross-functional teams to assess legal, operational, and financial aspects of target companies.
Analyze risks and opportunities associated with potential investments
Deal Execution:
Prepare investment memos and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Portfolio Management:
Monitor and analyze the financial performance of existing portfolio companies.
Assist with the overall support of existing portfolio companies, monitoring adherence to governance frameworks.
Market Research:
Stay informed and report about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and macroeconomic
factors that may impact investments.
Provide insights and recommendations based on market research.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with senior members of the Bluesky team to contribute to investment decisions.
Collaborate with colleagues in different departments, such as legal, finance, and operations.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills required:
The role will suit technically minded individuals, ideally with in-depth actuarial knowledge and an ability to explain and reconcile different results.
The role will require a strong ability to apply commercial and innovative thinking.
Specific requirements include the following:
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science
At least 3 years’ experience in General Insurance
Strong technical and problem solving skills
A strong sense of accountability and ability to work under pressure
An interest in learning new things and exploring alternative ways of completing tasks.
The Recruitment Process:
TA Interview: This will be a discussion with our Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow us the opportunity to get to know you more and ensure OMI can meet your career aspirations.
Panel Interview: This will be with 2 members of the Senior Leadership of the Hiring Team and 1 member of the HC Leadership Team.
Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with Vetting through an external service provider & Internal Verification.
