About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and detail oriented Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to take a lead role in supporting the growing operations of our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in full-cycle accounts payable, month-end close, supplier management, and financial controls within a high-volume, multi-entity environment. The role will also help drive process improvements, system optimization, and consistent execution of AP policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain supplier records and support supplier onboarding, including validation of tax documentation, payment terms, banking requirements, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Lead assigned month-end close activities, including AP accruals, invoice cutoffs, aging reviews, account reconciliations, and reconciliation of the AP subledger to the general ledger.
  • Analyze AP activity and aging reports to identify unusual balances, stale items, payment risks, and opportunities to improve working capital and close accuracy.
  • Serve as a primary liaison among Accounts Payable, Accounting, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, and business units to resolve issues and support consistent invoice and payment practices.
  • Support payment runs and related controls by reviewing payment proposals, validating supporting documentation, and escalating exceptions before release.
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to AP staff, including training and reinforcement of standard procedures.
  • Develop and maintain AP procedures, process documentation, and control evidence to support operational consistency and audit readiness.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and coordinating timely follow-up on requested items.
  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including AP automation, workflow enhancements, system testing, reporting improvements, and cross-functional projects.
  • Monitor AP service levels, approval bottlenecks, and recurring errors; recommend practical solutions and help implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable, accounting operations, or a similar finance role, including experience handling complex or escalated transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable, month-end close, accruals, account reconciliations, supplier management, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, data reconciliation, and analysis of large data sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and explain AP requirements clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting or informally mentoring junior team members and promoting consistent process execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Workday ERP for invoice processing, supplier setup, payment workflows, reporting, and journal entry support.
