About Troveo

Troveo builds the data platform AI labs and model builders use to train the next generation of models. We have created the world's largest licensed platform of scarce, proprietary data spanning video, audio, text, and business workflows. We index, enrich, and package data for training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and agentic applications. Backed by top investors, we are a small team addressing a critical data bottleneck in AI development.

The Role

This is a full-time, hands-on individual contributor accounting role reporting directly to the CFO. Accounting operations are currently shared between the CFO and a fractional contractor. You will become the primary internal owner of the monthly close, licensor and partner payouts, receivables, and day-to-day finance operations.

You will build processes while running them, work directly with management on the financial implications of decisions, and serve as the day-to-day finance contact for our Supply Side team and licensors. Deal volume is growing, so the role will evolve with the business. This is a fully remote role that requires meaningful overlap with core Pacific Time business hours.

What You Will OwnLicensor and Partner Payouts
  • Manage contract-driven royalty, revenue-share, and partner payment cycles from calculation through review, approval, reconciliation, and reporting.

  • Review payment files against contract terms, advances, recoupment, payment routing, and supporting schedules before funds move.

  • Reconcile Tipalti and Ramp activity to the Troveo licensor dashboard; verify balances and maintain a clear audit trail for recoupable expenses.

  • Respond to licensor and partner payment inquiries through [email protected] and work with the Supply Side team on schedules, communications, and payment breakdowns.

Customer Billing and Receivables
  • Issue invoices according to customer contracts and billing schedules, maintain receivables aging, follow up on collections, and resolve disputes.

  • Reconcile customer receipts to licensor payment obligations and monitor margin and pass-through accuracy.

Close and Financial Records
  • Own the close calendar and deliver an accurate, documented monthly close, including bank, card, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Maintain deferred revenue, prepaid licensor fees, and accrual schedules; apply US GAAP and revenue-recognition principles to contract-driven transactions.

  • Classify cost of sales and operating expenses appropriately, correct prior-period billing and schedule issues, and provide support for the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

Tax and Compliance Coordination
  • Coordinate with external GAAP and tax advisers while owning the underlying schedules, payee documentation, deadlines, and operational execution for 1099, 1042/1042-S, withholding, and sales-tax compliance.

  • Collect and review W-9 and W-8 documentation, track exemptions and withholding, and escalate technical tax determinations to external specialists as needed.

Spend Systems and Payroll Administration
  • Manage reimbursements, corporate cards, vendor onboarding, and finance systems including QuickBooks, Ramp, and Tipalti; maintain access controls and process documentation.

  • Coordinate payroll, contractor payments, and benefits administration through TriNet and Deel with leadership and external advisers. Support employee onboarding and offboarding administration; provide accounting support for bonus calculations.

What You Bring
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hands-on ownership of the monthly close. We will consider candidates with fewer years who have operated independently in a high-growth startup.

  • Experience in a startup or similarly resource-constrained setting where you built practical processes and controls while keeping the books accurate.

  • Direct experience with contract-driven financial operations such as royalties, revenue share, licensing, marketplace payouts, commissions, or complex partner payments.

  • Strong US GAAP and revenue-recognition knowledge, including deferred revenue, accruals, prepaid schedules, and documented reconciliations.

  • Hands-on QuickBooks experience and familiarity with modern finance tools; strong Excel skills and the ability to build a reconciliation someone else can follow.

  • Sound judgment, accuracy, and clear communication with senior leaders, customers, licensors, partners, and non-finance colleagues.

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with one or more of international withholding, 1042/1042-S filing, multi-state sales tax, or cross-border contractor payments.

  • Experience with Tipalti, Ramp, Bill, Deel, TriNet, or similar payment and people administration tools.

  • Media, entertainment, marketplace, data licensing, or AI industry experience; CPA or comparable certification.

  • Experience automating accounting workflows or supporting a company through rapid revenue growth.

What Success Looks Like
  • First 30 days: Learn the close calendar and licensor payout process, run one close alongside the CFO, and understand the history, dependencies, and risks in existing reconciliations.

  • First 90 days: Own an on-time close independently. Complete licensor payouts accurately and on schedule, with documented review controls and prompt resolution of exceptions. Keep receivables aging current and document at least two existing processes.

  • First 6 months: Shorten the close cycle, standardize payout review so it scales with deal volume, and keep tax and withholding work on a documented calendar. Give leadership reliable numbers for decisions.

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to own and build the accounting function at a growing AI data company.

  • Direct partnership with the CFO and management team and visibility into licensing, marketplace, and international payment models.

  • The ability to design financial processes and controls that scale with deal volume.

  • Remote flexibility, competitive compensation and benefits, and meaningful individual ownership.

  • Compensation = $145K - $165K DOE and Location

If you do not meet every preferred qualification but have the ownership and judgment to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply.
