The role

Youth Enrichment Brands is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Shared Services team. This role serves as the primary partner and right-hand to the BU Controller for Camps and is a highly visible position with cross-functional exposure and meaningful influence across the organization. The position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining exposure to leadership-level accounting responsibilities in a growing, dynamic environment.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the business unit’s corporate entities, including ownership of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and the preparation and analysis of monthly income statements and balance sheets. This individual will be trusted with complex accounting activities and will help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.

In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the Senior Accountant will contribute to broader initiatives such as budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, audits, and special projects. The role will also actively participate in identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency, partnering with stakeholders across finance, operations, and other functional teams.

Key Responsibilities 

General Ledger & Close Leadership

  • Apply advanced knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and procedures to independently manage complex accounting activities and drive sound financial outcomes.
  • Review, evaluate, and contribute to the design and implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures to support accuracy, scalability, and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted, day‑to‑day leadership partner to the BU Controller, providing coverage and continuity, leading through complex accounting matters, and acting as a primary escalation point when judgment and direction are required.
  • Partner with leadership to create, maintain, and improve accounting policy documentation and procedural manuals, ensuring consistency and clarity across the organization.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to internal controls and financial policies, proactively identifying and mitigating financial and operational risk.
  • Play a key role in leading the monthly and year-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations, to ensure timely and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and root cause investigations, exercising professional judgment to assess financial statement impact.
  • Proactively identify and escalate material risks, issues, or unusual trends to appropriate leadership, providing thoughtful analysis and recommended actions.


Financial Reporting, Analysis & Compliance

  • Prepare, review, and present financial statements and management reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, budgets, and trend and variance analyses.
  • Deliver clear, timely, and insightful financial analysis to management to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Support and contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation of actual vs. budget reporting and variance explanations.
  • Serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Assist with compliance requirements related to local, state, and federal filings and reporting, including business licenses, certificates of insurance, annual reports, sales tax, and census data.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices, proactively assessing their impact and recommending changes as appropriate.
  • Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards to protect the organization’s financial integrity.


Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Identify, lead, and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting and finance operations.
  • Leverage technology and automation to streamline workflows, improve reporting, and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, external consultants, and business partners to support system enhancements, integrations, and finance-related implementations.
  • Research and resolve complex discrepancies related to accounting data, system integrations, and reconciliations, ensuring data integrity across platforms.
  • Take ownership of special projects and ad hoc initiatives, demonstrating leadership, accountability, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Act as a resource and informal mentor to team members, sharing knowledge and best practices while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing accounting team.
  • Provide leadership by guiding, reviewing, and mentoring team members, fostering professional growth and reinforcing accounting best practices.


Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA, CMA, and/or Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years at the Senior Accountant level or equivalent, with demonstrated readiness for expanded scope.
  • Experience supporting operational accounting in organizations with $50–$100M in revenue preferred. 
  • Franchise or multi-entity business experience a plus. 
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, with the ability to analyze results and assess business impact. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, influence outcomes, and build effective working relationships. 
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication abilities. 
  • Self-motivated professional able to work independently in a hybrid environment
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong Microsoft Office skills. 
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, analysis, and decision-making while maintaining strong controls. 
  • NetSuite experience highly preferred; familiarity with Concur or Ramp, Tipalti, and Power BI a plus.
