The Senior Accountant role will be a key contributor and play a pivotal role in driving the monthly close process in accordance with GAAP, maintaining appropriate and robust internal controls, applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information. This is a highly visible and impactful role that offers significant opportunities for professional growth and development. This role will report directly to the VP, Corporate Controller.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support most aspects of accounting management (GL, AR, AP, sales, expenses, reporting etc.)
- Prepare financial data and ledgers in a timely and accurate manner
- Collaborate with all members of the accounting team and cross functionally as needed
- Perform month-end close procedures including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations for more complex accounting areas
- Researches, analyzes, and uses independent judgment in a variety of daily and non-routine decisions affecting assigned function
- Review journal entries prepared by Staff Accountants. Record journal entries for more complex accounting areas.
- Help in the preparation and completion of financial audits
- Assist in developing reports for management and/or outside parties
- Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Utilize accounting IT system (NetSuite) to streamline processes and maintain accurate records
- Support the Corporate Controller and work directly with the accounting team to ensure accuracy and consistency
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as Senior Accountant or similar position/experience
- Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (financial close, reconciliations, reporting, etc.)
- Understanding of data analysis
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software
- Organized with ability to prioritize appropriately
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- CPA is strongly preferred
- Three to Five Years of Experience – A combination of public accounting (Big 4 Accounting Firm) and industry experience is preferred
- Experience with NetSuite and Coupa is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
