Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant, will play a crucial role in assisting with the day-to-day operations, completing month-end financial close processes, financial reporting, and internal process improvements. This individual will also serve as a finance business partner to other colleagues, cross-functionally, on accounting and purchase order matters. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the biotech industry. 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the timely completion of the month-end close through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-over-period account fluctuation analysis
  • Responsible for the cash reconciliation process
  • Maintain the fixed asset, leases, current assets, and G&A related accrual schedules
  • Assist with the monthly financial consolidation of foreign subsidiaries
  • Review and approve all employee expense reports to ensure compliance with Company policies
  • Assist in the completion of the monthly PO accrual process and collaboration with external vendors and internal business stakeholders, including FP&A
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve any vendor or billing issues
  • Support implementation of internal controls, including identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Assist with the quarterly reviews, interim and year-end audit, as well as tax requirements as it relates to associated activities. Drive closure of any open items on a timely basis
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and procedures for assigned accounting areas
  • Ad hoc tasks and other special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required with a minimum 3-5 years of experience
  • Relevant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including international experience, preferred.
  • CPA or candidate seeking CPA certification preferred
  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Internal controls (SOX) experience
  • Strong systems skills; experience with top tier accounting/ ERP systems (preferably NetSuite); proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business

Zenas is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $78,400 to $98,000 USD. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location. 

Zenas believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package to all employees. Our base salary is just one component of Zenas’ competitive total rewards strategy that also includes annual performance bonus, equity, full range of benefits and other incentive compensation plans.
