About the Opportunity:
The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Manager of Accounting and work closely with the remainder of the team which is comprised of another Senior Accountant and the Director of Reporting. The ideal candidate has public accounting and relevant industry experience with a strong knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS. The Senior Accountant is a key member of the team with responsibility for the timely and accurate reporting of Grubub's financial statements to the parent company. The Senior Accountant will also have the opportunity to interact with the group reporting and consolidation teams of the parent company on a regular basis regarding technical accounting and reporting.
Some Challenges You'll Tackle:
- Perform various month-end close activities including account reconciliations
- Review, analyze and document variances in the financial statements
- Maintain quarterly documentation required under internal controls for financial reporting
- Assist with the preparation and submission of accurate monthly consolidated Grubhub financials to the parent company
- Assist with preparing the consolidation files for internal management and any applicable local reporting
- Assist with researching and documenting technical accounting issues and liaise with the group technical accounting team at the parent company
- Work with internal and external auditors on financial statement audits and internal control reviews
- Assist with special projects including process improvements
- Potential to assist the team with the following;
- Working closely with the engineering team to consolidate, prepare and analyze the Company's capitalizable internally developed technology costs
- Preparing and maintaining company records of fixed assets
- Calculating gift card liability and estimates of gift card breakage income on a monthly basis
You Should Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance
- CPA preferred or eligible
- At least 3 years of related work experience at a top-tier national public accounting firm and/or in a similar role in the industry
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, analytical and time management skills required
- Propensity to take ownership of areas of responsibility
- Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines, with attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Strong technical and analytical skills are required.
- Proficiency in Excel.
