Senior Accountant

Primary Objectives

• Responsible for month-end closing activities for North America and other global entities at Tennant.
• Preparation, analysis, and review of financial and/or analytical reports and related workpapers.
• Responsible for key components of the general ledger close process, implementing system enhancements and driving continuous improvements where possible.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing related workpapers and analysis.
• Special project and backup support.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Analyze financial data and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Advising and supporting the Corporate Accounting Senior Manager in financial day-to-day operations to make sure requirements are met with both timing and quality.
• Assist in internal audit/404 requirements, including enhancing narratives and documentation of controls for key processes.
• Participate in the financial month-end close process, preparing and posting journal entries specific to revenue recognition, debt, sales incentives, leasing, and warranty.
• Complete balance sheet account reconciliations accurately and timely to substantiate the account balances, additionally perform timely investigation and resolution of any reconciling items.
• Independently manage and prioritize tasks and work with multiple cross-functional business partners in a team environment. Lead periodic meetings with business partners on accounting matters.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve and automate existing processes, strengthen internal controls, and optimize data management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable internal and external accounting standards and financial policies and assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes.
• Research technical accounting issues and prepare technical papers, as required.
• Take on special projects as assigned, including serving as the lead company contact for third-party partners as it relates to matters in their area of support.
• Prepares year-end financials and all audit schedules for the Tennant foundation audit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 3 years experience in corporate accounting, preferably in a public company
• SAP or ERP experience a plus
• Public accounting experience, preferably Big 4, a plus
• CPA Preferred
