Primary Objectives
- Responsible for month-end closing activities for North America and other global entities at Tennant.
- Preparation, analysis, and review of financial and/or analytical reports and related workpapers.
- Responsible for key components of the general ledger close process, implementing system enhancements and driving continuous improvements where possible.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing related workpapers and analysis.
- Special project and backup support.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Analyze financial data and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Advising and supporting the Corporate Accounting Senior Manager in financial day-to-day operations to make sure requirements are met with both timing and quality.
- Assist in internal audit/404 requirements, including enhancing narratives and documentation of controls for key processes.
- Participate in the financial month-end close process, preparing and posting journal entries specific to revenue recognition, debt, sales incentives, leasing, and warranty.
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations accurately and timely to substantiate the account balances, additionally perform timely investigation and resolution of any reconciling items.
- Independently manage and prioritize tasks and work with multiple cross-functional business partners in a team environment. Lead periodic meetings with business partners on accounting matters.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve and automate existing processes, strengthen internal controls, and optimize data management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable internal and external accounting standards and financial policies and assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes.
- Research technical accounting issues and prepare technical papers, as required.
- Take on special projects as assigned, including serving as the lead company contact for third-party partners as it relates to matters in their area of support.
- Prepares year-end financials and all audit schedules for the Tennant foundation audit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3 years experience in corporate accounting, preferably in a public company
- SAP or ERP experience a plus
- Public accounting experience, preferably Big 4, a plus
- CPA Preferred

- Ability to meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously
- In-depth understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
