Position Overview

Arturo is looking for a Senior Accountant as we build our finance and accounting function to support a rapidly growing InsurTech start-up in the fast-paced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning space. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this is a hands-on role requiring someone who is not afraid to get into the details and set things up just the way they like them, which is logical, intuitive and extremely organized.

What You'll Do

• Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (we use Bill.com), cashflow reporting, overseeing general ledger activities, insurance renewals, tax reporting and payroll
• Perform the month-end balance sheet reconciliations, closing the books on time, every month.
• Assist with revenue recognition of our long-term contracts and software capitalization
• Support audits, prepare documentation for external auditors, assist with the audit process.
• Invoice customers and track payment, manage and maintain accounts receivable records, address delinquent accounts and resolve issues.
• Assist HR with benefits and various other statutory and insurance requests (we use Rippling).
• Assist the VP of Finance with FP&A and long-range planning.
• Participate in the annual budgeting process.

What You Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting and an academic track record that demonstrates a high proficiency in numerical subjects.
• A CPA would be ideal, but not required.
• 5+ Years of Accounting experience, preferably within the Software or Technology sector.
• Audit or Big 4 accounting experience would be ideal.
• Highly proficient in Excel along with strong analytical skills.
• Experience with QuickBooks or Xero.
• Attention to detail and a high desire for accuracy.
• A strong motivation to learn, grow and ultimately get promoted to Controller.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Travel

• You can expect to travel an average of 5% of the time for company meetings, etc.
