POSITION TITLE:  Senior Accountant 

LOCATION: Hybrid within ME, NH or VT

HOURS: Full Time, 37.5 hours/week, Salaried (Exempt) 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

 The Senior Accountant plays an important role in supporting the financial health and sustainability of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) and its affiliated organizations. In this role, you'll prepare and analyze financial information, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and help ensure resources are managed responsibly so leaders can make informed decisions and plan for the future. Working closely with colleagues across departments, you'll contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused environment where questions are welcomed, knowledge is shared, and continuous improvement is encouraged. Your work helps strengthen the systems and financial foundation that make it possible for PPNNE to provide, promote, and protect access to sexual and reproductive health care, education, and advocacy throughout our communities.

YOUR DAY- TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the organization’s overall financial health by maintaining accurate financial information and following strong financial management practices.
    • Prepare and explain financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information to help leaders and teams understand performance and make informed decisions.
    • Support budgeting, grant financial management, and ongoing monitoring of resources to help departments plan effectively and meet funding requirements.
    • Serve as a financial partner to colleagues across the organization by providing guidance, analysis, and tools that make financial processes easier to understand and manage.
    • Maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reviewing financial transactions.
    • Help maintain Finance resources, processes, and tools while supporting compliance, audits, reporting, and other organizational financial requirements.

COMPENSATION:

    • Pay Range – Range of pay starts at $63,122/yr

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business plus 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education/experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
    • Demonstrated ability to pay strict attention to detail, with a commitment to display a positive attitude, and willingness to work effectively and efficiently within an environment where priorities constantly change
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams…); Intermediate to advanced Excel preferred
    • Demonstrated aptitude for transactional accounting practices and processes
    • Experience with modern accounting and financial reporting platforms is desirable
    •  Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with ease and take ownership of assigned tasks or projects
