The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the financial close and reporting processes. This role performs advanced accounting analysis, manages key balance sheet accounts, and provides guidance to junior accounting staff while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Independent and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and US-GAAP
• Responsibility for payroll accounting
• Overseeing foreign subsidiaries and serving as the point of contact for all financial reporting and accounting matters
• Contributing to the further development of accounting processes at the Walldorf site
• Acting as a point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and tax auditors
• Prepare and review complex journal entries to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in the general ledger.
• Lead balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
• Analyze financial data and account balances to identify trends, risks, or unusual transactions.
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, financial controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Prepare financial schedules and reports used for management reporting and financial analysis.
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Collaborate with finance teams and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
• Review work performed by Associate and General Accountants and guide accounting procedures.
• Participate in the implementation of new accounting policies, financial systems, or process improvements.
• Assist with regulatory and statutory reporting requirements where applicable.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting efficiency.
• Support other team members as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications Education Required Bachelors or better. Experience Required Knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements Strong experience with financial close processes and account reconciliations Advanced knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting Experience in accounting or financial reporting roles Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams Ability to mentor junior accounting staff and review accounting work Ability to interpret complex financial data and accounting transactions Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Preferred Professional certification, such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA, preferred
