ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations, dealing to external parties like bank, auditors, supplier etc., and supporting management with financial analysis and decision-making. The role also involves supervising junior accounting staff, if any, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring the timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Accounting
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all accounting records are complete and accurate.
• Ensure accurate accounting within the ERP system
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany balances, and general ledger accounts.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
Financial Reporting
• Prepare monthly MIS.
• Analyze financial results and explain significant variances against budgets and prior periods.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Prepare the reports as required by the Head Office
Taxation and Regulatory Compliance
• Prepare and review direct/indirect tax returns filings.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with tax consultants and regulatory authorities when required.
Audit and Internal Controls
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls.
Fixed Assets
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Review capital expenditure requests and asset capitalization.
• Ensure compliance with the Finance Policy by verifying that all required forms, approvals, and supporting documentation are completed and obtained for the addition, transfer, and disposal of fixed assets.
• Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
Treasury and Cash Management
• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
• Review payment proposals and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Coordinate with banks on banking transactions and facilities.
• Coordinate with banks for the establishment, renewal, amendment, and cancellation of banking facilities in accordance with business requirements.
• Monitor facility limits, utilization, expiry dates, covenant compliance, and renewal timelines to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
• Assist in negotiating banking terms and identifying opportunities to reduce financing costs and improve liquidity management and maintain effective relationships with banking partners and act as the primary point of contact for treasury-related matters.
• Coordinate with banks for the issuance, amendment, extension, and cancellation of Letters of Credit (LCs) and Letters of Guarantee (LGs).
Intercompany Accounting
• Reconcile intercompany balances.
• Prepare intercompany invoices and settlements.
• Resolve reconciliation differences with group entities.
• Any other task or responsibility given by Management
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or CMA is added advantage.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or group environment.
