The Senior Accountant role sits within the Global Controlling Sports Marketing Global Capability Center and partners closely with Controlling, Finance, Sports Marketing, and Operations to deliver global financial reporting, accounting, and compliance activities. This role reports to the Director, Global Sports Marketing Accounting.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORThe ideal candidate is a collaborative and analytically minded Senior Accountant who combines strong accounting judgment with a continuous-improvement mindset. This individual is comfortable owning critical close activities, evaluating complex endorsement agreements, and translating technical accounting conclusions and financial data into clear, actionable guidance for business partners. The candidate builds trusted relationships across Sports Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Technology and balances day-to-day execution with enterprise transformation and systems improvement. The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
3+ years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or a closely related field.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent qualification is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical accounting matters, communicate status and risks, and provide clear guidance to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, partner across functions, analyze financial and systems issues, and contribute to process, control, automation, and technology improvements.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will own key accounting and financial reporting processes for the sports marketing organization and maintain effective internal controls that support reliable financial results.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver month-end and quarter-end financial close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial analyses, and reporting deliverables, to support timely and reliable financial reporting.
Monitor accounting activities performed by the managed service provider (MSP), resolve delivery issues, escalate risks, and ensure timely completion of key financial and operational accounting tasks.
Assess the accounting treatment of significant endorsement agreements under applicable accounting standards and NIKE policies, and document clear, well-supported conclusions.
Partner with Sports Marketing and Finance to explain contract accounting implications and provide spend insights and trend analyses that inform forecasting, budget management, and business decisions.
Drive operational accounting process and technology improvements by documenting business requirements and supporting solution testing and implementation.
