Porter is a fast-growing startup seeking a smart, proactive, and hands-on Senior Accountant to join our lean but ambitious team in finance and operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will help run day-to-day finance operations and support strategic initiatives that drive our growth. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives in a startup environment, can identify needs before they're obvious, and enjoys building processes from the ground up.
What You'll Do
· Accounting & Bookkeeping: Support (or lead) monthly close, journal entries, GL reconciliations, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Payroll & Benefits Administration: Coordinate payroll processing, onboard new hires in payroll systems, and support benefits tracking and reporting.
· Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, help manage payables/receivables, and assist with banking relationships.
· Financial Forecasting & Budgeting: Work with the CFO to build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and scenario models.
· Process Building: Create and refine finance and operational processes, including automation and documentation.
· Ad-hoc Projects: From fundraising support to audits to tooling—pitch in wherever needed.
What We're Looking For
· 3–6 years of experience in finance, accounting, or operations—ideally in a startup, SaaS, or high-growth environment.
· Strong foundational knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
· Experience with QuickBooks, Excel/Google Sheets, HRIS platforms and preferably financial modeling tools.
· Demonstrated ability to independently manage tasks from end to end, spot gaps, and propose solutions.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in ambiguity.
· Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
· Bonus: CPA, experience with state registrations/tax filings, or experience scaling early-stage finance operations.
Non-Negotiables:
· This position is remote with travel to the CFO's home once a week or more if necessary.
