Senior Ab‑Initio Developer – Data Integration, Metadata Management & Performance Optimization
Job Summary
Synechron seeks an experienced Senior Ab‑Initio Developer to lead the design, development, and support of large-scale, enterprise-level data integration solutions. This role involves applying deep hands-on expertise with Ab‑Initio tools to create high-performance ETL workflows within highly regulated environments such as banking or financial services. You will be responsible for delivering scalable, reliable, and compliant data pipelines that support business analytics, data governance, and operational efficiency. Your contributions are key to enabling data-driven decision-making and ensuring data quality at enterprise scale.
Software Requirements
Required:
Extensive experience in Ab‑Initio (GDE, Co>Operating System, Metadata Hub/EME) with 7+ years of hands-on development
Proficiency in Graphical Development Environment (GDE) for designing data workflows and graphs
Strong understanding of Co>Operating System for job scheduling, monitoring, and execution management
Experience with Metadata Hub (EME) for managing data lineage and metadata governance
Deep knowledge of parallel processing, partitioning, and performance tuning of Ab‑Initio workflows
Solid experience with SQL and data analysis for data validation and reconciliation
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, enterprise data models, and compliance requirements
Sound understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and change management processes
Preferred:
Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure) supporting Ab‑Initio migration or integration projects
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting for automation
Understanding of data security and privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS) in a data environment
Overall Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL solutions using Ab‑Initio for large enterprise data environments
Build, extend, and optimize batch and real-time data processing pipelines for performance and reliability
Translate business requirements into efficient and scalable Ab‑Initio workflows and solutions
Perform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of workflows, graphs, and components
Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and compliance with enterprise data governance policies
Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, QA teams, and data stakeholders to ensure effective data integration
Conduct code reviews, document workflows, and enforce coding standards and best practices
Provide ongoing production support, perform root cause analysis, and resolve data pipeline issues quickly and effectively
Maintain comprehensive documentation for workflows, metadata, and system configurations
Stay updated on industry best practices, new features in Ab‑Initio, and regulatory requirements affecting data management

Experience Requirements
Minimum 7+ years of experience in ab‑initio data integration development in enterprise environments
Proven mastery in designing, implementing, and supporting complex ETL workflows supporting regulatory compliance
Strong experience with workflow performance tuning, metadata management, and data validation
Practical experience working in banking, financial services, or other controlled environments preferred
Familiarity with cloud data migration, high-volume processing, and scalable architecture a plus
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and enhance Ab‑Initio ETL workflows, graphs, and components based on business needs
Analyze workflow performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies
Collaborate with business, data, and IT teams to define requirements, data models, and solutions
Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and ensure system scalability and maintainability
Monitor workflows in production, resolve incidents, and optimize execution
Document workflows, metadata, and technical procedures for operational and governance standards
Support data migration, process automation, and platform upgrades as needed
Stay informed of evolving industry standards, new Ab‑Initio features, and regulatory updates impacting data workflows
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of direct experience working with Ab‑Initio in enterprise environments, preferably in regulated industries
Experience in designing, developing, and supporting large-scale data pipelines
Professional certifications in data management, Ab‑Initio, or related areas are advantageous
