Department OverviewThe Secure Products Group (SPG) delivers Encryption, Key Management and Authentication solutions to protect mission critical communication of MSI customers in the moments that matter. We partner with Motorola Solutions Information Technology, Security Operations, Development, and Service teams to solve for safer in the arena of public key infrastructure workflows. Job Description

About The Position

We are looking for a Security Engineer to join our team to guide Motorola Solutions product development teams to integrate template based workflows with our Motorola Solutions managed public key infrastructure (MPKI). Our mission is to protect the connections between genuine Motorola Solutions devices to Motorola Solutions services. We serve as public key infrastructure subject matter experts to our product teams. We are stewards of our Motorola Solutions certificate policy and procedures audited against CA Key Generation 4.1 of the WebTrust Principles and Criteria for Certificate Authorities v2.1. We design and operate on-premise and cloud-based PKI solution components. We are investing in quantum safe technologies.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the PKI team member include:

  • Identify customer and product use cases, document system level and product level requirements, and advise technical teams that plan to use certificates in their products 

  • Design and implement templated workflows to manage the lifecycle of a certificate.

  • Design, plan, and execute PKI operational activities including creation of new Certificate Authorities and maintaining existing Certificate Authorities using industry best practices.

  • Design, plan, execute, and test capacity expansions, hardware and software upgrades, supporting PKI services in lab and production environments.

  • Participate in PKI governance board as an active steward of PKI Policy, Procedures, and Resources. Contribute to PKI service feature (work) prioritization.

  • Innovate architectural improvements and changes to production system and lab system design to support anticipated business needs for PKI services.

  • Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues and provide guidance for recovery and resolution.

  • Engage in 3rd party product and service evaluation and integration.

  • Proven track record of learning new technologies

  • Experience with Software Development, including S-SDLC practices and DevOps

  • Experience with Cloud architecture, including Azure, AWS, and Google

  • Basic familiarity with common Industry Frameworks such as NIST 800-53

  • Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure technologies/vendors and certificate management practices

  • Knowledge secure protocols (e.g. TLS) and IP networks

  • Knowledge of Windows OS

  • Knowledge HP Server operations and management with VMs (e.g. ESXi, iLO)

  • Knowledge of Quantum Safe (Post Quantum) cryptography industry developments

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Chicago-based for physical access to equipment

The hiring team will work with the candidate to acquire the required knowledge through training, hands on deployment and operations, and in depth architecture discussions and development.
